Ind. Police Officer Seriously Injured in Chase after Reported Kidnapping

Indiana State Police troopers and Porter officers pursued two men near Chesterton after a report of a female who was kidnapped by an armed individual.

An Indiana police officer was seriously injured during a chase that ended in a crash following a reported kidnapping over the weekend.

The incident happened at about 7 p.m. Saturday after police received a call about a female held against her will by an armed individual, WBBM-TV reports. Troopers stopped a suspect along Ind. 49 heading toward Chesterton, and a chase ensued.

The driver turned around and slammed into a Porter police cruiser that was in pursuit. Two men fled the car on foot, and authorities apprehended them.

No details were released concerning how the officer was injured on the extent of the injuries. The officer is expected to recover.

A female in the car also was injured in the incident. She is expected to recover, too.
